About Us

How We Got Started

We began creating imaginative children's theme parties, as Make Believe Parties, serving the Tampa Bay Area. Our party designer, Laura Johnson, wanted her parties to be an engaging and imaginative experience for the children. She began writing her own treasure hunts and mystery games for many of her party themes. At her parties, she found the kids and their parents really loved her stories, her rhyming riddles and her fun and interactive props and clues.

"One of my favorite things is to sit down and brainstorm new ideas for a treasure hunt or a mystery game. I get ideas everywhere I go and from everything I see. I'm always thinking 'Hmmm, that would make a great story. Or, this would make a clever clue idea'. I love writing the games." ~Laura

When Laura shared some of her games with her fellow party planners, they encouraged her to make them available to the both party professionals and to parents. She began writing treasure hunts and mystery games along with themed party guides, so families everywhere could enjoy the same imaginative experiences at their own parties. She writes her games and the party guides that go with them, as a professional party planner, so parents will find them loaded with the practical party planning tips and knowledge only an experienced party planner and fellow parent can provide.

What Makes Our Games Different?

Laura gives lots of great advice along the way and provides easy step by step instructions, making it simple to recreate these parties in any home or in any location. Rather than just a set of random clues made to fit any party, these treasure hunts are designed from the theme, often from a story. Many of the clues, puzzles and riddles are interactive, giving the children a more engaging experience. And best of all, she gives the parents a great guide to help them run the party flawlessly.

Our theater style mystery whodunits are written like a mini novel, beginning with great characters. The characters are fun to play and entertaining to watch. The crimes, mostly mischief and misdemeanors, are unique to each story and the clues and evidence are well thought out and make sense.
